What's up

I know that it has been quite some time since I last wrote here. I seem to be running out of time everyday... I have been busy, as usual.. I have an English speaking knitting group here in Florence and we meet once a month. These meetings are the reason why I keep starting new knitting projects, at least one each month ;-) I made a nice hat for my daughter, started to make a shawl for myself but left it aside for now, because knitting mohair now is rather 'warm'. Right now I went back to crochet and started a blanket with granny squares. I want to use up the leftover yarn from my former projects. In these knitting group meetings I learned that there exist non-profit organizations that knit for charity, like KasCare's Knit a Square Project. Did you now about them? All you have to do is to knit 8 inch / 20 cm squares and send them. They will sew them together and make blankets for kids. If you like the idea, there is another non-profit organization, Lily - Love in the Language of Yarn, which accepts squares for blankets as well.
If you like the hat that I made for my daughter and want the same, I accept your orders. Just drop me a line in the comments.

I continue with my iPhone programming learning, although quite slowly.. I do have some projects that I would love to realize, but haven't had the time to sit down and start yet, because I started attending a course for the sailboat license. It keeps me quite busy, with one evening class every week and some practice hours on the boat whenever we get the chance. I would love to take my exam before the end of June, if possible.. It is so much fun!! But there is a lot to learn. Especially the terminology, in Italian, is killing me..

My stomach has created a lot of problems for me lately and I am on medication since many weeks. I have lost a couple of kilograms and hope to continue this way, not that I need to, but I want to. I try to keep fit with occasional runs, walks and cycling. I even attended the Guarda Firenze run/fitwalking on Mother's Day with my kids...

That's all for now. Let's see when I will manage to write next time :-)

Creative set of mind..

I am in a creative mood lately. I finished a pullover that I have been knitting for my daughter. I am nearly finishing a pullover & hat set for a newborn and am planning to sell it :-) I started and nearly finished a sleeveless sweater for my son and made even a hat with the yarn that was left over :-) I have already bought the yarn for making a baby blanket for the baby of a friend that will be born in February. Soon you will find here pictures and maybe also recipes for some of these projects.

On the sewing front: I have to make a dress for my daughter for their annual school theater performance. The paper model and the fabric is ready. I need to buy some ribbon only. There is also a nearly finished skirt for my daughter that is waiting for me to find some free time to do the hem.

But I have other ideas as well. I have a lot of felt at home. Yesterday I found a book that I had bought some time ago, on stuff made using felt. I think soon I will make some felt bags :-) If/when I do realize these projects, I will post here.

So: keep checking this blog for updates and new posts ;-)

PS: Did you notice that I have new pages now? Look up. There is a menu bar. It wasn't there yesterday ;-)

2nd Annual Knitting and Crochet Blog Week

I just found out on Eskimimi Knit that next week is the 2nd Annual Knitting and Crochet Blog Week. It means that the bloggers that would like to join this initiative will all have to write on a given topic. You can join the week with your blog in any language. I just gazed at the topic of each day.. Interesting... If I could find time, maybe I could also join... Will see....
